An important event for both local competitors and the wider rural community who look forward to connecting socially, the Heart of the Goldfields Rodeo is held annually in July at the Dalrymple Equestian Centre.
The Heart of the Goldfields Rodeo is fast becoming a signature event in North Queensland. Over the past three years this event has sold out each year and attracted thousands of spectators. In 2021 it was awarded Community Event of the year at the annual Australia Day awards and in 2023 was in the top four Australian Professional rodeos as voted by the competitors.  
In 2024 the rodeo will expand to both the Friday night and Saturday. Friday night live music by Billie Rose. At the conclusion of the main event on Saturday night you can party the night away with Luke Geiger.
